April 9th, 2012... QN4U BBQ House Clovis, CA (April. 9, 2012) - THE KING HAS LEFT THE BUILDING Considered one of the best BBQ guys nationwide, Brent Walton created his legacy by winning. Unfortunately, Friday night the winning streak came to a sudden end. At the age of 57, Brent Walton leaves behind a BBQ family that has been touched by his creativity and willingness to teach those who wanted to learn. Brent was the face for the QN4U BBQ HOUSE in Clovis, Ca and just recently had opened his second location, QN4U BBQ & SPIRITS in Fresno, Ca. Brent Walton made his presence on the BBQ circuit with his BBQ team, QN4U with his wife Kim Walton. With a drive to win, the QN4U BBQ team won multiple California Championships, 23 to be exact. In addition, winning the 2007 "KING OF Q" which is the top recognition for any BBQ’r. Brent Walton was a big thinker, there was no cookie cutting ideas nor copy cat plans. When Brent went big, he followed the saying, "GO BIG OR GO HOME". Brent Walton taught a competition barbecue class called "Barbecue Like a Champion," where he got to hand down his knowledge of barbecuing to students. The clientele were people who just started barbecuing. The competition class lasted for 24 hours and was set up as a mock barbecue contest. A short mock barbecue judging class was also included, to help students better understand what judges look for. With awards given at the end of the class, students walked away with invaluable information. These classes were taught in California, Arizona, Utah and Washington. In March of 2008 the QN4U BBQ House officially opened its doors. At the same time Brent and Kim were laying out their barbecue travel schedule for 2008, and doing large catering jobs. "Our menu is pretty simple, we thought, and that’s what we intended it to be," Brent Walton said to Business Street Online. "We wanted to focus on barbecue." Brent Walton wanted items on the restaurant’s menu that were entirely unique. Such as the signature unique items like the "Texas Tommie," a giant 12-inch hot dog stuffed with jalapenos and sharp cheddar cheese, wrapped in bacon and deep-fried. Or the "Hot Sandy" an open-faced turkey sandwich, consisting of smoked turkey topped with a cheese sauce, bacon and basil. Brent’s signature "Pitmaster’s Salad" a salad with grilled vegetables around it with a sliced New York Steak on top. Other trademark items are the "Chicken Cluckers," chicken nuggets made at the restaurant. Brent always had pride in introducing menu items first, like the "Sweet Potato Fries."or the "Chili Size" an open faced chili hamburger. Inside the QN4U BBQ House is a trophy case filled with awards won from years of competition. His most valued trophy is the Save Mart Red Hot and Real BBQ Championship in Clovis in 2007, of which he was named Grand Champion. In 2005 Walton started the ClovisFest Red Hot and Real Barbecue Championship, which Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger recognized as a State Championship. The event was handed over to Save Mart in 2006 so he could compete in it and win once. From countless videos hosted at www.qn4ubbqhouse.com, teaching would-be BBQ’rs the tricks of the trade, to landing on multiple nationwide shows, Brent was all about growing the interest in BBQ. There wasn’t a person leaving the BBQ HOUSE with an unanswered question about rubs, ribs and sauces. You may remember Brent from being on "BBQ Pitmasters" on TLC, Modern Marvels and The Food Network. His mark in the BBQ world is further than Clovis, Ca. Brent Walton was also inducted into the California BBQ Hall Of Fame in 2010. The list of accolades that Brent & Kim Walton accumulated in their quest for BBQ dominance could fill a book, but in Brent-like fashion it fills the BBQ HOUSE with trophies’, plaques and recognition awards. In all, the BBQ HOUSE was all about family to Brent and with the help of "the family" Brent had one goal in mind "to be the barbecue destination". For the past year, Brent had set up his beloved QN4U restaurants to operate without him so he could travel and compete again. In the past year, he had competed in Canada, Las Vegas and Phoenix. "One of the greatest things Brent did was to set up the restaurant to run smoothly in his absence and that’s how he wanted it." said, Sandy Clawson, sister of Kim Walton. The restaurant will continue to thrive successfully in Clovis by Kim Walton and the QN4U family. If you haven’t visited Clovis’ best kept secret, the QN4U BBQ HOUSE is located on Clovis Avenue, just south of Barstow. Brent may be gone, but the unique flavors of his creations remain.
